EXIT of the DAY: I-95n Exit 23 in FL To: FL 818, Griffin Rd
Hear this here!

Ok Road Trippers, time for a Road Test so pay attention. The winner of this gets 2 free passes to the fast approaching International Game Fish Association’s Hall of Fame. In the so-called "Fishing Hall of Fame" you can see some of the world record fish caught by anglers from all around the world — including monster marlin and yes, man eating sharks.

Now listen for the Fast Facts.
Off the next exit, Dania Beach is the home of the International Game Fish Association. This group has tasked itself to be the official records keeper for trophy game fish and it is here that you must register your catch if you think you have caught a whopper big enough to qualify as a world champion.
The association is active in conservation efforts for both game fish like marlin, sail fish and tarpon as well as for the general health of the ocean's fish populations. In fact, it is particularly interested of late in the menhaden stocks since the small fish is a major food source for all the big sexy fish farther up the food chain.

In addition to the Fishing Hall of Fame, the  IGFA Building is really a working office. There is even a fabulous library which houses books, films, artifacts, and videos of all things fishy.  The E.K. Harry Library of Fishes was established in 1973 . Its walls and ceiling are hung with world record game fish. If you want to learn how to fish, this is the place.  The library itself houses the world’s most comprehensive collection of photographs and information on game fish, angling, and related subjects.

That’s no surprise since the clear blue waters just off  Florida’s beaches are major fishing grounds boasting world records of many species including those for bonefish, cobia, white marlin,  pompano, permit and several shark species including mako, tiger, and hammerhead.

Now for the Road Test:
What is the name of the bait fish which is of major concern to the International Game Fish Association? You have three seconds to answer. One Mississippi, two Mississippi and three Mississippi.

If you said,  “Menhaden,” take the next Exit and proceed to the E.K.Library of Fishes. If they stop you at the door, just Tell ‘em RoadSpoke sent you.
